Rothbury village is nestled in the Coquet Valley and is often referred to as the 'Capital of Coquetdale'. The river flows through Rothbury to the west of the Cheviot Hills and to the east, it passes under a 600-year-old bridge heading towards Warkworth until it reaches the sea at Amble. Take a river walk and head for Cragside House, Estate and Gardens, the former home of the Victorian Industrialist Lord Armstrong, within easy reach of the cottage at the end of the village - this really is a must visit!

Rothbury is in the centre of Northumberland and is an ideal base for exploring. It is just 30 minutes to the Northumberland Coastal Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and only 3 minutes to start walking in the Simonside Hills. From Rothbury you can also easily explore the Cheviot Hills and all of Northumberland National Park and its magnificent Dark Skies. Alnwick market town, with its famous Castle and the world renowned Alnwick Gardens is only a 20 minute drive. The village and the surrounding area hosts various events throughout the year, including a traditional music festival in July, a round table street fair in May and the Alwinton Border Shepherds Show in October.

"Lovely house and fantastic location for exploring Northumberland. Rothbury is a lovely little town - popping into Greenland bakery at the foot of the town on the way back from the tennis courts was a real treat! Cragside House, on the doorstep was perfect - we've been 4 times and walked the trails. Plenty of public footpaths right from the front door, along the river and up onto the Siminside Hills. Have loved every minute and hope to be back!"

"Very comfortable house and a great base for exploring the area. Had a good trip out to the Farne Islands from Seahouses and visited several castles. Beautiful scenery - first time in Northumberland and will enjoy coming back "

"Excellent location and very spacious, well furnished house with some lovely homely touches such as bottle of wine and homemade lemon drizzle cake on arrival. The cottage was very well laid out and spacious for our family including a small dog. We particularly enjoyed the pool table and the lovely sunny courtyard and seating area just off the kitchen. Rothbury had a lot of places nearby to explore including the river walk that extended to the back gate of Criagside Estate. We enjoyed visiting the historical sites of Craigside House and Gardens, Brinkburn Priory, Warkworth Castle and Hermitage, Alnwick, Bamburgh Village and Castle as well as walks on Bamburgh beach and a hike to Linhope Spout. Also had a wonderful pamper spa day at Doxford Hall Hotel that included afternoon tea."
